About Monaco
Monaco is a glittering city-state on the French Riviera, wedged between the Mediterranean Sea and the foothills of the Maritime Alps in Western Europe. The capital and the country are one and the same, ruled for centuries by the Grimaldi family. Famous for its harbour of superyachts, the Monte Carlo casino, and a street-circuit motor race, it packs remarkable wealth into barely two square kilometres.
- At about two square kilometres, Monaco is smaller than New York's Central Park, and only Vatican City is smaller among countries.
- Monaco's flag is nearly identical to Indonesia's, differing only in its proportions.
- Monegasque citizens are legally barred from gambling in the country's famous Monte Carlo casino.
